Breaking any of the rules will result in a ban, I'll tell you that now.
Grammar is the most important thing. Nothing kills an RPG like a post that nobody can understand, let alone even read. No chat-speak, No using numbers for words, hit all your punctuation the best you can. Don't worry your ass off about a little typo here or there, everyone messes up once in awhile, but to spell an entire sentence worse than someone in first grade? There are no excuses for being a moron.
Paragraphs would be nice, if even just one. I understand that in all reality, sometimes, we don't write novels in actions or details to just sit up, go to the kitchen and get something to drink. But, it's how you describe it that counts. Perhaps you hear your stomach grumble, and maybe you THINK to yourself, "I'm thirsty." before deciding to stand up, might stretch your muscles a bit from being sore from sitting so long, how do you walk to the kitchen, quietly or stomping, at what pace? What do you see inside the fridge? Connect the dots, that's all I'm saying, because I hate it when people do a one-sentence post that says: "im thristy -walks to kitchen opens soda drinks it-" .. That tells us nothing. That's terribly blunt and very nonrealistic. If I walked into the kitchen now, a soda wouldn't just appear in my hand. Get what I'm saying?
Don't feel out-done. I've been writing for ten years, and I plan to one day do it professionally. Because of this, I consider all my RPG's to be practice at details and lengths of story-telling. But that doesn't mean I still don't just do this for fun. I'm all about fun, and I hate writing novels for one post. I just don't mean to sometimes, I get an idea in my head, start to do the action, and by time I'm finished, I have three paragraphs. Don't feel like you have to compete with me, and don't stress yourself to make your posts longer than they need to be, just try to do more than a one liner, give me and the others SOMETHING to read, keeps the RPG interesting.
Stay in character, I can't stress this enough. I hate when say, someone like Marv, a tough and brooding character suddenly decides to admire pretty little ponies, or gets abusive towards women for no reason at all. Remember what he says? "And I don't hit girls." Sure he gives Wendy a paste, but that's not just him up and deciding to beat the shit out of them for no reason, Marv is about killing the assholes who fuck with him, simply said, as well as all the other characters who have their own traits and motivations for doing what they do and how they do it for being who they are. Don't make your character do something that you, yourself, as a role player would do, just because you're the one role-playing as him/her.
No fighting with other role-players. To tell characters not to fight would defeat the whole purpose of Sin City. but, OOC, if you have a personal problem with another member, come to me about it. Now, no one in Sin City is immortal or has super powers, if someone shoots you, you're going to get hit, and it's going to hurt. But, I have to say, give everyone a chance. Don't just show up and shoot someone in the face, thus kill them off the game for good. Let's see some actual battles, yeah?
Last, I know too well how good RPers are all grown up now, and have lives offline. But, if you can take five minutes out of your life to join this RPG, and read these rules, then you have the same five minutes in your power to log on, read a post, and reply to it. I hate when tons of people join for nothing, just to say they joined and then to never do shit. This isn't that kind of RPG. I hate to do this, but I'm putting an official time limit on all members. If you neglect to log in for ONE WEEKs time, your account will be deleted. If you do log in daily to insure your account won't be deleted for inactivity, a record of your posts is also being timed, also in a ONE WEEK time limit. Come on, there's 24 hours in every day, and 7 days a week. If asking you to come on for five lousy minutes in just ONE of those hours is TOO MUCH for you, then why the fuck are you even bothering to join? Isn't that a bit redundant? Come on.
I think I've made my point here. Let's see who has enough balls to join. Walk down the right back alley in Sin City, and you can find... Anything.
